I am using FBReader 0.12.2 under Ubuntu Karmic. Sometimes I open books
from within Calibre; at other times, I open them from the Recent Books
List. In either case, I often find that FBReader has lost my place in
the book, and opens to a random position.

How can I prevent this?

Thanks,

Ron H-E

Hi Ron,

I cannot reproduce the problem. May be you can find some important
details that prevents this bug?
That might be very useful for fixing.

Anyway we will invesrtigate the code to find the cause.

Best,

I've noticed the same effect once.
It was when I launched FBReader without mounting the drive with the
book first.
I've then mounted it and launched FBReader again - it picked up the
book automatically. But the reading position was lost.

I have excellent luck with it keeping my place with the exception of
when I open multiple copies of the Linux desktop version. For example 3
copies of FBReader open, each with a different book, after closing my
place is lost in all but one book.

Becaise as each copy of FBReader closes, it overwrites the file that
notes open book, page, etc. ``The book open in the last copy closed
will be the book opened when FBReader opens.

Coran, I do that frequently, so that may indeed be the problem. I'll
see if I can replicate that.

FBReader team, can you replicate this?

Thanks!

Hi Ron,

I'm sure the bug exists: I've seen the same effect several times.
Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it in a debug mode. As far as it will
be found and fixed
we'll release a bugfix immediately.

Best,
