If you are reading this then you have chosen to join a new community of
musicians, FBPM. You received an invitation to join because one of
your colleagues thought you would contribute to this network.
In weeks and months to come this community itself will determine the
content of this discussion group(and the quality of that content!).
Utimately you will decide what is food for thought or bread for the
journey or whether there is sustenance enough here to make you hungry
enough to come back. My hunch is that these topics will whet our
appetites. I invite you to start a discussion on any topic pertinent
to the art and craft of the church musician. The mission statement of
FBPM will help you know if you are a kindred spirit.
In recent years I have had many conversations with gifted colleagues
like you around the country in which we lamented the isolation in which
we do our work, the disconnection from other practitioners of our
craft, other pastoral musicans. FBPM will help us re-connect, share
ideas, offer encouragement.
And so as Advent wanes and the new year waxes, my dream is that 2007
will be a renaissance for the guild of ministers of music in moderate
Baptist churches.
