Greetings, all.
FBC has given me four weeks off this summer as a sabbatical for 25
years of service. Part, but not all, of that time needs to be used for
education/conference. Just wondering if you know of something out of
the ordinary being offered for this summer. Last summer I attended
the Worship/Arts Conference at St. Olaf and it was terrific.Has anyone
been to the Alleluia at Baylor? Where would you study for a week or
two? Some of the summer programs at colleges are not yet advertised.
I'm trying to do some planning now for the summer; any suggestions
would be helpful.

I have wanted to take Rene Clausen's workshop for several years but
have not had a chance yet. Last weekend we hosted Sig Johnson from
St. Olaf College here at Wilshire and she had some good things to say
about Clausen's work. Probably worth looking into. Also, John
Dickson of Texas Tech has entered a partnership with St. John's
College Cambridge and has been offering conductor masterclasses at
Tech in recent years but this summer it's going to England. E-mail
John at Texas Tech or look for info on Tech's School of Music website.

I attended Rene's workshop several years ago when Anton Armstrong was
the guest clinician. The week was great. The Iona suggestion also
triggered thoughts of Taize and Northumbrian Communites. All three of
these have websites with information about retreats at their
respective locations. Keep the ideas coming!
