suggestions for new hymnal

Hi everyone,

Some of you may have heard that Mercer University Press has started a
new hymnal project (several members of this group are part of the
hymnal team). I am serving on the Text and Tunes sub-committee, and
I'm writing to ask for your suggestions regarding "must have" items
for the hymnal.

This hymnal will be primarily for Baptists--Baptists around the
world. The first meeting of the sub-committees was held in Atlanta
last weekend. Mercer hopes to release the hymnal in 2009. It's a
massive undertaking.

If you have a text or tune to suggest, please send it to me at my e-
mail address (a pdf of the hymn is preferred). I'll welcome all of
your suggestions, but I am especially interested in hymns on
stewardship, the Bible, religious freedom, and baptism (non-infant
baptism).

The text and tunes committee will meet again in late April. Any
suggestions you have should be sent to me before the end of March in
order to get them in the pipeline. We have already received numerous
submissions from hymn writers and publishers, but I am especially
interested in any hymns you all think are worthy of inclusion.
