I trust this meets you well and in good spirits. This is a reminder to many and may be new to
some (who it may have just been forwarded to/shared with) about tomorrow’s “An
African Evening” event (please see attachment). Today, September 5 at midnight, is
the cutoff for RSVPs. I returned from Nova Scotia, Canada this week where
Dr. Nemata Blyden (one of our presenters tomorrow) did a book-reading and
signing of her new work, “African Americans and Africa”, a Yale University
publication. One of our other presenters, Dr. Abdul Rahman Lamin has just
arrived, too, from Nairobi where he works for the UNESCO Regional Office for
Eastern Africa. He is in the process of relocating
to Paris where he’ll be working at UNESCO Headquarters so we are pleased, in
the midst of moving, he is here to present an overview of his organization’s
new “The History of Africa” documentary film. The film, narrated by the BBC’s Zeinab Bedawi,
will be screened for the first time in the US, tomorrow as well. All the foregoing, combined with dinner, packed
into one evening for a modest contribution of $25!
We look forward to receiving you tomorrow, September 6 from
6 pm to 10 pm. Kindly review photos attached, among which are Dr. Lamin and Zeinab Badawi, the
former giving a recent talk, and Professor Blyden signing her new book.
