S Romans 15:5-6 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement
give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ
Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

O Christ gives us endurance and encouragement through His Spirit and
Word, and with that we should strive for unity in His body (first and
foremost) to carry out His works. When we are aligned with Him in this
way we truly will find unity because our heart becomes occupied by one
God. Our mouth however must persevere and make the two become an
alliance. You cannot serve and unify God’s Kingdom with an open heart,
and then spew venom on our brothers in the next sentence. Paul says
may we unify the two through the Spirit as we follow Christ!

A This may be the single hardest thing for people to do in life! We
know through His Word that we are set apart through His Spirit and we
should honor God by our actions and words. The task of bringing unity
through the alliance of our heart and our mouth is what still
separates nations today! Only by God’s grace am I able to do this
because of who He is and what Jesus did for us to accomplish this in
His church! The only reason we are still here on earth… is to glorify
God. Anything else is a sin against His word. This is a direct word. I
must live what I know and carry this out, period!

P Lord, Your word clearly calls for unity of Your believers first and
foremost. If we cannot be aligned in Your spirit together, how then
could we ever think of doing the work You call us to? May I
continually strive to make alliance of my heart and my mouth. May the
things I do and say be pleasing to You. Amen
