Falls Brook Free School

Third Edition

July 15, 16 & 17 2011

Falls Brook Centre is thrilled to announce our third annual Falls Brook Free School.  Once again, we invite you to come, teach and learn at our annual event in Knowlesville, New Brunswick

What is a Free School?

Free Schools are based on the premise that everyone is a teacher and we all have a lot to learn.  Unlike regular school, all participants are invited to be the teacher and give a workshop or lead a discussion of their choice.  In this way, there is a free-flowing exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas.

Who participates?

Anyone who wants to come to Falls Brook Centre and enjoy the summer sunshine and the easy atmosphere is welcome to come and participate! Teachers! Anyone with an idea or skill to share may register as a ‘teacher’.  It doesn’t matter if you’re not an expert!  Do you know how to dance, make something or play an instrument? Is there a topic that fascinates you that you want to talk about with other people?  If you have knowledge of any kind and are willing to share it with a small group then you can be a teacher! Students!  Anyone who wants to expand their knowledge, learn a new skill or see how someone else uses their skills can be a student!

What goes on during the weekend?

Over the weekend, a mix of hands-on, theoretical, and action-based workshops will be offered by volunteer teachers. Each year, the topics change as different people with different ideas and skills come to teach and learn. However, we can guarantee a few things: there are always interesting people to meet, lots of activities for children of all ages, indoor and open-air activities, walking tours, music, delicious home-cooked meals and an open, inviting atmosphere!
