1. Falls Brook Fall Fair: A celebration of Rural Living and Forest Forum - Sept 10-12, 2010
The Fall Fair will run from September 10 to 12. It’s a great event for the whole family, with activities and showcases of interest to all ages.
This
year, the fair will feature a Forest Forum, which will showcase New
Brunswick-based woodworkers, craftspeople, non-timber forest product producers,
and other forest-oriented producers and researchers.
Concurrently with
the Forest Forum, the Falls Brook Fair festivities will continue on as usual,
with great local food, music, and artisans. The Fair will kick off on September
the 10th at 7:30pm with a concert in the barn. This year we are lucky to present
Mike Trask, a young up-and-coming blues musician from Musquodoboit Harbour, NS.
Tickets are $10 at the door.
Saturday
and Sunday the grounds are open from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $5 per person,
with children under 9 free. The Fair continues to be a smoke, alcohol and pet
free environment.

2. Help Plan a Sustainable subdivision in Fredericton - September 17-18
Interested in a more sustainable approach to neighbourhood development? Ever wanted to be part of a subdivision that is a healthy, happy place to connect with neighbours and the environment? Then come take part in this workshop opportunity on sustainable subdivision planning.
One Tree Orchard is a vision and plan for a sustainable subdivision. It is located on a family-owned, 360 acre plot of land bordering Fredericton’s city limits and the Saint John River. This is the first such project of its kind in the Fredericton area, so it can play a key role in encouraging other developers to become sustainable.
This project has been developing for over a year, with some aspects already planned out – wastewater and storm water management, and conservation areas. However, many other areas have yet to be defined – a community energy scheme, building design, housing ownership, and approaches to forestry and agriculture to meet residents’ needs.
This workshop will be an opportunity to become informed about the work that has already taken place for One Tree Orchard, and to become engaged in the areas of planning that have yet to be defined. Your values and voice matter, and can help make this project a success. Experts will be presenting to guide discussion and work with participants to provide feedback and ideas for the project. Participant ideas will be used to guide planning for One Tree Orchard.
The workshop will take place on the afternoon of Friday, September 17th and all day Saturday, September 18th. The workshop will be held at the site of future development - 3606 route 102 hwy.

The Sustainability Education Alliance of New Brunswick is hosting a Peer Training Day for sustainability educators at Falls Brook Centre. The day will include a variety of presentations and discussions on successfully integrating ideas surrounding sustainable communities into education programs. 4. Falls Brook Work Bees
This summer, in Carleton County, FBC Work Bees have been successfully making connections between local youth and rural mentors. We have helped raise a barn, or rather a blacksmith shop, with up-and-coming metal worker Dana Kittilsen, we’ve helped in the pre-firing process of an Anagama kiln and helped build a wood-fired Raku kiln with Lee and Yolande Clark. Next we will help Tegan and Leland Wong-Daugherty prepare their organic fruit orchard for winter and we’ll help Terry and Wendy Thomas clean up their gardens and bush and store food at their home in Lower Woodstock.

5. Movie in the Barn : The cove - Sept 15 , 8:00
Falls Brook Centre will be hosting a screening of the Academy Award® Winner for Best Documentary of 2009, THE COVE.
