Hello everyone!

I apologize for such a long period of inactivity!  My name is Carolyn Young and I am the new Education Coordinator at Falls Brook Centre.  I have been around since June but have been busy with a number of camps and great initiatives in the Carleton County area.  It was also a while before I knew about this group!

I look forward to hearing from some of you and where about where you are in Canada and the world!  I have got lots of ideas and connections so if you ever have any questions about how to get involved in any area of environmental or social justice action, please ask me!

On a similar vein, I am interested in getting youth across NB connected on Environmental issues.  I was recently at an Environmental Education conference where I saw lots of evidence of active youth.  One program, in particular, caught my eye as something we should be doing more of here!  Please check out the Otesha project and the Triple-H program and if you are interested or have participated in the past, please let me know!

Let me know what’s going on in your neck of the woods!

Peace and solidarity,

Hey Carolyn!
I read your email and recalled a couple of 'activist camps' i attended a
few years ago. One was in camp glenburn in the fall, and then there was one
up outside of fredericton in the spring. A had a swell time, met lots of
funky folks and was dizzy from all the knowledge at these weekend
workshops... Was that facilitated by the Youth-Environment-action group?.. i
can't remember...

Anyhoo, i'd be keen to attend such a thing again if they are being held in
the province.

I'm living outside SJ right now and i'm not really sure what
environmentalist actions/meetings are going on here now.....i've been out of
the loop for a bit- but always thinking and living with mother earth in my
heart.
I was wondering, also, if you had any connections for people in NB into
biodiesel; production and conversions etc.?
Cheers!
sincerely,
Philip Savage,
The savage gardener.

Some biodiesel and grease car resources include:

www.plantdrive.com
www.journeytoforever.org
www.greasecar.com

"From the Fryer to the Tank: The Complete Guide to Using Vegetable Oil as an
Alternative Fuel" by Joshua Tickell, Kaja Tickell, Kaia Roman.

Also, if you are interested in getting in contact with someone who has done
a car conversion, I have a few names to offer if you contact me personally.

Thanks,
Carolyn

Hi Philip,
I heard you were curious about other folks involved with biodiesel conversions.  I'm far from being a pro at this, I've undertaken a simple do-it-yourself conversion which requires t-ing (ading a line for veggie-oil) the the fuel intake and return lines.  On either end you place valves that control what fuel goes in and out of your engine, which means once your engine is warm enough for veggie oil, you have to pop the hood and turn the valves manually.  Unfortunatly, in the process my injection pump got dammaged and so I'm in the middle of having it replaced.
Anyway, enough for now, I'd be interested to know how you're getting involved in the veggie oil business, and would happy to try and help to work out any questions.
cheers,
Mike Cameron

I've forwarded him the email.
