Hi, Gabrielle.

Hmm.  That's a new one.  Did this just start happening recently?  Or have you always had this problem?  Does it happen after you reboot your computer?

Could you try re-installing Klink's PC software on your computer?

Also, do you have any Android sync software on your computer like HTC Sync, Samsung Kies, Motorola Media Link, or any other tether companion programs?  If so, please make sure that the corresponding program is NOT running in the background while using Klink.  If such a program is installed, check the Windows tray near the clock for related icons, right-click, and exit.  Alternatively, just uninstall the program in question.  What happens is that most Android sync/tether programs are configured to start automatically in the background when Windows boots up.  Moreover, everyone uses the same mechanism to talk to your phone, which will lead to conflicts like how you describe.  Klink tries to coexist with them, but some programs (like HTC Sync) are very aggressive.

Please let me know how it goes...

Hi, Gabrielle.

Sorry for the slow reply.  I'm a little slower about checking my email in the evening.

Ahh.  Please ignore my suggestions, as they were mainly directed toward a computer running Windows.  My poor assumption!

Let me try to replicate your scenario on my end.

Could you tell me which version of OS X you're Mac is running (e.g., 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, etc.)?  You can find the version by clicking the Apple menu and choosing the "About this mac" item.    I wonder if I accidentally broke compatibility with an older version of OS X in my recent update to Klink a few weeks ago.

If you'd like to check, you can grab the previous version of Klink's Mac software v1.05a from here and see if it makes a difference:

Does that work better?  Either way, please let me know, and I'll try to see where things went wrong!

Kevin

P.S.  The adb problem is all related to the Mac software and not Klink's Android software.  It's likely a bug that I'll need to patch up for you.

Always had the problem, since first installation at beginning of March.

Yes, it happens consistently, after reboot or after crash of adb

Could you try re-installing Klink's PC software on your computer?
Yes, have tried this multiple times.

No, have never synched with Android to this computer, never had an Android before. The computer was used to sync with an iPhone. No programs/apps were installed to perform the iPhone sync (used iTunes)

Please let me know how it goes...
Still crashing, unfortunately!

I just purchased Klink beginning of March.
Computer: MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Phone: Samsung Conquer SPH-D600.
This appears to only involve the Mac installation, as the adb app crashes on startup without ever involving the phone.

We've tried deleting and re-installing the klink app on the mac.
We've looked in the "Package Contents", and the dab file is in the MacOS folder, same as it is in a version that works on my partner's computer. No other obvious differences between the working version on my partner's computer, and my version that doesn't work, except version numbers.
We've reset the Klink preferences to default (never made changes to them either...)

After I close out all the "The application adb quit unexpectedly" message boxes that ask me if I want to report or restart

(tried restart too), it eventually says "ADB start failed" in the Klink box that shows up on the computer screen.

Thanks for reporting back, Gabrielle!  I'll test things out again, and try to get to the bottom of this.  Hopefully, it'll be a simple matter.  Either way, I'll report back here when I post an updated version of the Mac install file.

Kevin- Problem solved, at least for now! My (wonderful...) partner switched the adb file, replaced it with the one that works on his mac, and Klink runs fine.  This fits your suggestion below, too.

Let me know whether I should avoid Klink updates for a bit, until we know the adb won't cause problems.

This mac is running OS 10.7.5

Thanks for your responses and help, glad to have it running, works like a charm!

Hi, Gabrielle.

I was just testing things, and I can replicate your adb problem from yesterday using an OS X 10.5 setup.  (10.6 and 10.8 are fine, so I wonder why your 10.7 install was leading to similar problems.)  Anyway, I'm going to re-build adb on 10.5 to take care of that issue, hopefully.

As for your current error message, I wonder if it's related to your USB cable.  The USB connection is always the first thing to question when random things start to happen, since cables go through a lot of abuse due to daily charging and tend to go bad after several months.  Could you try the following:

- Plug your phone into a different port on your Macbook.  There have been sporadic reports of some Macbooks being unable to supply enough power to certain ports.  Connecting to different USB ports on the computer might help.

- Could you try a different cable?  Perhaps borrow your partner's working cable to see if that makes a difference?

Thanks!
FYI:
Actually it's working perfectly (yay!) except I've just started to get the error message again once I stop Kink on my computer and phone, doesn't seem to affect functioning since it's after shutting it down though. It says "The application adb quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."

Hi,

Just following up with this...  I've uploaded a new version of Klink's Mac software (1.06a), which should fix the adb problem.  It also fixes compatibility with OS X 10.5.

Thanks for being patient!
