Hi,

This is a notice advising users of a Klink Windows software update that was posted to Faveset's download page at the end of August.  I've hinted here and there on this group of its existence over the last week; however, I refrained from a public announcement to run further tests.

Version 1.06 adds a much-requested auto-connect feature and fixes several bugs.  I recommend that all users update if they are experiencing any problems or would like to use the auto-connect feature.

The new version of the PC software can be found by visiting Faveset's download page:

Alternatively, you may download it by following the Setup guide within the Android app.

Before installing the new version of the software to your computer, please uninstall the older one by running the uninstaller in the "Faveset Klink" program group.

To check the version of your existing Klink PC software, just click on the "About" button within the main window.

Changes:

- Check the "Start automatically" box to have Klink automatically connect to the phone when it is connected to your computer.  This setting is remembered until you press the "Stop" button or uncheck the "Start automatically" box.  This is useful when combined with the "Hide Window" button that minimizes Klink to the system tray.

- A new "ADB keepalive" option can be found in the "Settings" window.  Enabling this will cause Klink to periodically poll the ADB connection to your phone to make sure it stays awake.  This is useful with some early pre-Galaxy S Samsung devices (eg., Moment, Intercept).

- Program startup and exit are more robust.  These changes prevent a rare run-away error case in which the adb utility would be spawned several times.

- Windows specific networking code was streamlined and should be slightly faster.  A few bugs were cleaned up, which should improve reliability.

- The "CHECK():209" error should be taken care of.

Glad you like it, Jef. :)

As another tip, you might want to turn off the "Radio Keep Alive Interval" setting within the Android app's "Settings" menu.  I don't believe it's needed any longer (even with 4g), so you can just set it to "Never."  This will save you from unnecessary battery drain while using Klink.  I'll probably change the default for this value in a future update to the Android app.

In which corner of the room is "Radio Keep Alive Interval" hiding?
Seen it before but don’t see it now...

Hi, Jef.

It's hiding under the main settings menu of the Klink Android app:

- load Klink in your phone
- tap on Settings.
- tap on Radio Keep Alive Interval

Oh, I thought you meant the android’s stock settings... got it.

By the way, I recommended Klink at
