Hi, Serena.
This doesn't sound like it's related to the update, as device detection issues aren't actually related to the app itself! In fact, you can actually uninstall Klink completely from your phone and just enable USB debugging on your phone, and the PC program should still be able to detect your phone.
Instead, this sounds like a USB connection issue, which is very common because USB cables go bad all of the time. Could you try the following:
1) Try cleaning the charging port on your phone with a soft brush or a twisty tie. Dust and grime can get inside over time and this can lead to unreliable connections.
2) Try using a different USB port on your computer.
3) If you use Windows and are running a version of Klink's PC software that is older than 1.08, I recommend updating to the latest version. I made some changes in late fall 2012 that make Klink's PC program a little more tolerant of poor USB connections. To check the version, click the about button within the PC program. If you need to update it, you can grab the latest one by following the setup guide within the app.
4) Finally, try a different USB cable if you have one handy or can borrow one from a friend. It's always possible that the other cable might be flaky if it's old, but it doesn't hurt to try. A bad cable has been the most frequent source of problems, so definitely keep this in mind.
Also, could you tell me what phone model you have? If you have a Galaxy Note, S2, or Galaxy S3 (running Android 4.0 ICS), you might want to make sure that the following security option is turned off:
With Android 2.x:
- Go to Settings on the phone
- Choose Locations and Security
- If you see an option titled "Disable USB debugging", turn it off. Note that this is different from the "USB debugging" options.
With Android 4.x:
- Go to Settings on the device.
- Choose Security.
- Turn off the "Disable debug mode" option if you see it.
Please let me know how it goes!
Kevin
