Hello everyone,

Currently, the version of FAVE available in the master branch on github us version 1.0 (downloadable as a zip under releases). In the dev branch, however, there've been some pretty good contributions which:
  • provides windows support for FAVE-extract
  • eliminates dependence on rpy2 in favor of numpy, which is easier to install
  • improves performance on poorly formatted textgrids
  • replaces the printed prompt for each vowel analyzed with a progress bar.
I think these updates are worthy of being merged into the master branch for a 1.1 release, but they really need to be documented first. I believe the appropriate format for documentation is the github wiki, where I've already started transitioning information from the READMEs and How-to pdfs. https://github.com/JoFrhwld/FAVE/wiki

I myself am a bit short on time lately, and can only accurately document the information for OS X. If anyone on the list is willing to contribute to the documentation (being sure to err on the side of being pedantic), I would certainly welcome it.

Hello,

I've started to add some more documentation for Windows. I was wondering if it might not be better to require the user to specify sox and praat paths in the config file, rather than asking them to modify their PATH variable (since that could cause damage if done incorrectly)? I know there's a feature to specify sox and praat paths as an argument to the script, but setting a config file might be easier than typing in the paths on every run.
