Hello Everyone,

This is just a brief announcement concerning some minor update to FAVE, and updates to the Wiki.

Hilights:
  • Schwa Support
  • Smart Quotes Sanitation
  • Better Wiki Documentation
  • Cygwin support
FAVE Upates:
First, I've updated FAVE-extract to correctly treat "AH0" CMU transcriptions as schwa, rather than unstressed wedge, which it was before. This was an issue if you included unstressed vowels in your FAVE-extract measurements, which was the default behavior. To fix this behavior, it was necessary to tell FAVE-extract what to do if it encounters a vowel for which it doesn't have an ANAE reference (it defaults to 5 formants). This, in combination with the iterremeasure and bootstrap feature branches are likely to help improve FAVE-extract compatibility with more and different dialects in the future.

Second, Keelan Evanini has contributed some commits that handle smart quotes in transcriptions, and allows you to define your path HTK at the commandline.

Wiki Updates:
I've finally gotten around to updating the FAVE wiki to reflect the changes made to FAVE-extract config files in v1.2. Changes to the wiki also remove instructions to fix the HTK source code, thanks to Kyle Gorman's discovery of the right CPPFLAGS to disable the problem.

I've also tried to add the relevant "Back to Installing..." links at the bottom of each wiki page of install instructions for FAVE dependencies. There is now also support for using Cygwin on Windows, if you want to spread FAVE to your PC friends.
