I have a feeling that I have installed 32 bit version Autocad instead of 64 bit version. On my C drive I have two program files, one is normal - program files, the other is - program files(x86) which I beleave stands for 32 bit versions.

For clarification, pasting the code at the command line and hitting Enter, does not invoke the command. The command line returned "_64BIT-P" as that is the symbol that has just been loaded into memory. This only means that the symbol (the function) has been defined, and can now be invoked.
Hi ReMark, I have the 2012 3ds max version Most likely the file it has been mistakenly overridden, like you mentioned. RenderMan, I copied the code in autocad, it comes up with error - ; error: no function definition: _64BIT-P. I apologise for this
Copying and pasting the complete function loads the LISP routine into that drawing's memory, invoking the function as shown here actually makes the function 'do something'. Again, this is a routine intended to be called from within other LISP routines, so you may not be familiar with calling a function in this manor (if at all). It's really quite simple once you get the hang of it.
Hello RenderMan, no disrispect, by not working, I ment the lack of my experience I thought it is as easy as just copying in the comand line, but thank you ever so much for your time and help I will look up some tutorials
Thanks for the links I just looked up at Lees tutorials in terms of how to upload the LISP codes, I found the ready file here -code-modules/detect-autocad-type - I then entered the appload comand, navigated to this code, but nothing happened. Or maybe I am missing something.
I downloaded the free trial, and I am sure i chose the 64 bit, but the 32 bit autodesk app in running in my background. For the first 3 days, autocad worked fine, I have now spent 5 hours trying to open and use austocad. It will open, but dings at me everytime I try and press any command and won't work. Is it possible I am running the 32 bit on my 64 bit computer? would this cause it to constantly freeze on me?
The install process does not allow 32-bit to be installed on a 64-bit system. If you had tried to install 32-bit on a 64-bit system a window would pop up noting that you do not have the correct version.
could you please help me with installation of autocad 2017 32bit on 64bit win 8.1? I can't choose which version will be installed at the beginning of installation process, it's done automatically. The 32-bit is needed for additonal software (as an extension for reinforced concrete drawings).
Download the software from the Autodesk Virtual Agent
Once there, use the Download Links option to navigate to the application you need to download.
NOTE: If there are multiple parts for the download, you'll need to click each part to download them, once they are downloaded double-click Part1 (which will automatically extract the remaining parts) to begin the installation.
Of course I'm trying to install Autocad using deployment Setup.exe. When I try to execute particular i.e. acad.msi file I get a little bit different info, like: "this operating system is not supported". I'm using Windows 8.1, so it shouldn't be the reason..
Accidentaly, in previous deployment, I dropped "checkFor64bitOS" rows in each msi, and this message dissapeared from particular instalation file. It was still appearing in the main Setup.exe (the same message as attached above).
I've just started from the beginning - created new deployment (called "1" this time) and opened acad.msi in Orca. I clicked "apply transform", chose "acad-1.mst", dropped checkfor64bitos row, and clicked "generate transform". Orca asked me to "save transform as", if I use "acad-1.mst" I get this message:
Anyway, I can save it using unique name, and then simply rename to original "acad-1.mst" in the explorer. But if I open acad.msi, it doesn't matter what I change in mst file (or if I change at all), it always ends with this message:
I'm not sure why it's so complitated, we've bought the software and just try to work with it -in our case using 3rd party software which is compatible only with 32bit autocad.. We've changed workstations in the office, thats why now there is a problem with installation..
Hi tarikboss, The main sticking point of the 64bit operating system, is getting third party software to work on it. There is a lot of software which includes business software which will not work. What you have to do is to check your manufactures software web site to see if will function with an 64bit operating system. Your hardware is ok, Intel Duo Core will run the 64bit.
Yeah that's the main reason for upgrading to 64 bit, because with 32 bit OS and without Service Pack 1 it reads the RAM as 3GB. And some of my friends said to me that with 64 bit the Windows will start up more faster than with the 32 bit. I heard there will be some problems with some old programs but that is not problem at all.
The two issues you will have is compatibility with programs and drivers. Your computer according to Dell drivers and downloads does not support 64 bit OS. That being said you may load it and it may load default drivers that may work. If you look at the drivers under the 32 bit OS and check compatiblity you will find some of them do support the 64 bit OS. Maybe others will chime in who have already loaded it successfully. I say these things for my E1505 was not supported by Dell but yet I was able to load it and make it work since Vista 64 bit already had compatible drivers by default. If you get it up and running please respond back with any issues you may have had so future posters will benefit.
but as I know Vista searches the drivers online, or I can try installing the same drivers for 32 bit? but with programs I know autocad does problems with 64 bit os. most of the programs are compatible with 64 bit.
