How to login Fatsecret using python

Dear FatSecret Platform staff,
We are a research team from University of Southern California, and we are working on a research project on analyzing social networks of FatSecret for health promotion. More specifically, we came up with the idea of using python to do data crawling on FatSecret website. The task here is to fetch the buddy networks of users on FatSecret.
When we write the python code to do this task, we have a problem. The problem is: if we want to see a user's full buddy list, we need to log in first. However, we do not know how to automate the log in step in python. If possible, could you provide some sample code in python that signs in FatSecret website, such that we can fetch a user's full buddy list.
In the meantime, we are also interested in using the REST API to do data crawling by writing a desktop program. However, we are new to the REST language and we do not know what programming environment we should use to write the data crawling program. We carefully read the information on the website but still have little clue on how to do it. If possible, could you also guide us on this data crawling task or provide some sample code so that we can follow?

I am also looking for same, the connectivity using python requests module. Any instruction or getting started guide might be helpful.
