Dear FatSecret,

I have been testing the API demo and noticed that several products available in my country (Mexico) show inaccurate nutritional data. For example, according to the API, a 333 ml serving of "Lala 100 proteina" milk contains 237 kcal. However, after purchasing the product to verify, the label states that it provides 53 kcal per 100 ml, with a total of 530 kcal per 1L container. This means the API is reporting around 1.5 times the actual nutritional value.

The same issue appears with protein content. The product label indicates 5.4 g of protein per 100 ml (54 g per 1L). In contrast, the API reports 15 g of protein per 333 ml, which converts to about 4.5 g per 100 ml—again, inconsistent with the actual product.

I understand that the data may not always be fully updated, but when the information is this different from the real product, it becomes very difficult to use the API reliably.

Could you please let me know if there are plans to review or update the data source for products in Mexico?

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Oliver Lomas

Hi Oliver,
Many thanks for reaching out and bringing this Mexican product to our attention. It seems it was recently updated by the manufacturer and we will update our database shortly to reflect this change.
By way of background, we update over 1,500 products every single day and our goal is to continue providing the largest verified nutrition database globally.
Happy to assist further.
