I was wondering if the Catholic Church still cares much one way or the
other about artificial contraception?

I understand from a Harris poll that Catholics practice artificial
birth control (in the U.S) at the same rate as everyone else in the
United States.

I took an RCIA course about 6 years ago here in VERY conservative
South Carolina and the subject wasn't even brought up, not by
instructors or students. Probably 80% of the students were married
young couples.

So I was curious. Thanks.

Artificial contraception is deemed morally wrong by the Catholic
Church.

The formation of Catholics these days is more by a secular culture
than within the framework of the faith.

Many priests and catechetical programs are silent about the matter.
This is unfortunate. Pope John Paul II told clergy to be
compassionate and understanding, not mute.
