This was the response I got from MyEG. Most of it is about a mate of mine who had left his phone behind so wanted to input his score a day later. I had already input his score into the MyEG app but that isn’t good enough as you have to create a scorecard in the vicinity of the club you are playing.
There is a bit at the end about developments for non members

Cheers

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your email.

When using the app for entering and verifying scores, it is necessary for each player to have their own device in order to record their own scores, and so it is not possible for the scores of both players to be uploaded onto the one device.

In the instance which you describe above, as long as you have both downloaded the app, you can attest one another scores. There is a window of seven days in which to action this. If, however, you are unable to do this, please return the score cards to your home club to be manually entered, and for any further assistance.

Please see below some guidance regarding inputting of scores for reference.

Firstly, you must ensure your playing partner also has the most up-to-date version of the MyEG app (including the score entry icon) then you can select them as your verifier/marker by searching for them by name and home club.

Once you select them and your score is submitted via the MyEG app, they will be sent a message in the app to verify your score:

Finally, they can click on the big green 'approve' button or 'reject' and add a comment if they think the scorecard is wrong:

Once complete, the score will appear in your app and your handicap index will be calculated overnight.

Note:

  • If entering a score on the MyEG app, you must only submit your card via the MyEG app. If you submit a card via both the MyEG app and your club you will get a duplicate score in your record. If you register to the MyEG app but only submit to the club you will have a query against your account for incomplete score (your club will need to rectify).
  • Any verified score will be added to your record immediately and calculated into your handicap overnight.
  • Scores can be entered either hole by hole or entered in full after the round. Submit full scores at the end of the round.
  • Each player submitting a score will need to register their own scorecards via either the MyEG app or via the club for them to be added to the player scoring record.
  • Juniors can be added as verifiers/markers via the MyEG app.
  • You can record a pick up by clicking the 3 dots next to the score and click pick up.
  • Any problems with missing scores and they will need to be returned to the home club for them to manually enter.

With reference to your second point about joining a club in order to hold an official handicap, currently, this is not possible.

However, later in the year, England Golf will be launching the Independent Golfer campaign to allow non club members to hold an official handicap. Please check out website for updates on this - https://www.englandgolf.org/tag/independent-golfer/

The latest update was the 25th May and can be found here - https://www.englandgolf.org/independent-golfer-update-25-may/

This provides further details around the subscription.

Only club members or people who subscribe to Independent Golfer will have an official handicap, with access to the MyEG app and WHS portal.

Kind regards,

Victoria Mana

I played a golf course on Sunday and Monday with a friend who didn’t have his phone with him or wasn’t fully registered - not sure which. Anyway I entered both our scores for both days and he has attested his. He has been trying to retrospectively enter his scores ie the same scores as I’ve put in but as we are no longer there we can’t create a scorecard.

Is it possible to remotely rectify this? I did register both of us when I created the original scorecard but it’s not showing on his MyEG app. Not really bothered about the scores but would like clarity on the process. If I create a card for me and a friend do they have to do the same as by default I am attesting his score so all he should have to do is approve the card as a player- the same as the attest process.

On a completely separate point are there and ‘non club’ sites registered that can affiliate handicaps. A friend of mine who can’t get into the club as we have 60 on the waiting list. He has been targeted by a company Golf Club GB (golfclubgb.co.uk) are the in any way affiliated to your organisation? If not do you know any organisation that can keep your handicap even if you can’t join your local club?

Cheers

Pete
