Can FatFree CRM be a reasonable "locally hosted" solution to replace my old ACT! 6.0? If not, what?

In order to supplement my rather miserable income at a print shop, I freelance doing graphic design. I have an old clunker of a customer management program... ACT! 6.0 It is long past due for an upgrade.

If I am the only person on my team and there is no need to have a separate "server" with a CRM on it but I still wish to have some serious analytical tools while keeping my files local... backed up but local.... What is one supposed to use? Can FatFree CRM be hosted locally (on a laptop, even) and be a reasonable replacement for ACT!?

I've really been quite frustrated with the lack of local, personal software. Everything is going subscription and with all of the subscriptions that everyone demands, nowadays, it IS NOT inexpensive to a guy in my situation.

Michael Dvorkin had let me know that, "Yes, technically it's possible to run everything on single computer. You'll still need database and web servers though." Thanks for any advice you can give. Cheers, Christopher Grove

I'd just run it up for free on Heroku - the instructions are on the github site.

Thanks and Regards,

The only way to improve is to look at the whole system people are operating with, the basic tools, their training, how much initiative they are allowed, are you measuring the right things (more about that later) and then you can improve. But it's the system you improve, not the people you beat into performing even worse." Unicorns in the mist

Thank you!
