I've noticed that converted leads (or now known as a contact) doesn't have all history (tasks, comments) that the lead had. In other words, seems like two separate entries.

Is this by design?

What would be the normal workflow after the conversion? Ignore the lead from now on (only used for archival purposes?) and work strictly on the contact?

Thanks for any insight,
Olmo

Why even have two (or more) models for people. A person is a person
right? It seems like whether a person is a lead or a contact or an
opportunity is simply a matter of state and could be handled by a
column or tags.

Just my $.02

FWIW I totally agree with this. We work around it by not using leads. We just use contacts. Separating the "leads" from the qualified contacts can be done with a custom field... as suggested below.
