Dear all,

There are only a few seats left for our upcoming online course: Model-Based Demographic Inference from Population Genomic Data

Dates: 20–24 July | Online

Course website: https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/demoinference/

This course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of evolutionary demographic inference using population genomic data. Participants will explore key approaches based on both frequency-based data (e.g. SNPs and site frequency spectra) and haplotype-based data (e.g. whole genomes), combining lectures with hands-on practical sessions using real and simulated datasets.

Topics covered include:

  • Population genomic data and summary statistics
  • Coalescent theory and site frequency spectrum (SFS)-based inference
  • Demographic modelling and model comparison
  • Isolation-with-migration frameworks
  • Sequentially Markovian Coalescent (SMC) methods
  • Practical applications using tools such as fastsimcoal, PSMC, MSMC2, IMa3, and others

The course is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and scientists interested in population genomics and statistical inference.

Best regards,
Carlo
