Dear Mr. Shirouzu,
When making a backup copy of a folder using "Diff (Date/Size)", existing files at the destination location will be replaced by newer versions of the same file. This is performed by deleting the old destination files before writing the new files. I wish to request a feature that will rename the old files instead of deleting them. The old files would be renamed, in some manner, to indicate their oldness. This way, old versions of files can be preserved in the event of accidental human error while editing those files.
Example:
from: Financial Report 2017.docx
to: Financial Report 2017_backup-20210604.docx
I understand there are a number of versioning naming schemes that could be used. In this example, the date timestamp in which the file would have been deleted is the date put into the filename to indicate when it was replaced by a newer copy.
Please let me know if you would be interested in this feature. It's the only thing preventing me from using FastCopy for routine backups, because FastCopy deletes files instead of just renaming them.
Motto: "We never delete files, ever."
Thanks.
