Hello, and thanks for FastCopy. Your program is so useful since Microsoft Windows Explorer doesn't let you copy/move folders and have them retain their Date Modified detail. I don't know why this still hasn't been fixed with Microsoft. But anyways, I have a question about FastCopy.

I currently have the latest version of FastCopy, and am wondering if I can set an option for FastCopy to only copy/move Folders from the Source Directory to the Destination Directory.

So for example, here's everything in the source directory:
• abc Folder (contains files & folders)
• xyz Folder (contains files & folders)
 1.jpg
• 2.txt
• 3.html

and when I copy/move the Source Directory to the Destination Directory using FastCopy, I want it to only move/copy:
• abc Folder (contains files & folders)
• xyz Folder (contains files & folders)

and not the 1.jpg, 2.txt, 3html files.

Also another question, I am aware that this program Copies from the Source Directory to the Destination Directory. How can I make it Move instead of Copy?

Thanks

If you specify * in exclude filter, all files will be skipped.

But a dir that have no copied files, isn't created in fastcopy's default settings.
So it requires to change the "Option" -> "MainSettings" -> "Copy/Move Options" -> "Don't create empty directory, if Filter is checked" checkbox to off.

>Also another question, I am aware that this program Copies from the Source Directory to the Destination Directory. How can I make it Move instead of Copy?

I can't understand what you want, correctry.
Do you want to change default selected mode("diff(date/size)") when starting fastcopy?

Okay I unchecked the "Don't create empty directory" to off.
I want to Include the directories and everything in the directories,
Exclude everything in the main directory except for the sub-directories.

Also, how can I separate filters? Say I want to copy all *.txt and *.html. How do I type that in the Include section?

And yes, I want to change the default Diff(Size/Date) to Move(Overwrite) please. Thank you

Oh...
You want to copy only subdir and subdir's files?

Exclude fitler must be \*\ and not *

And you want to change default mode to "move", it requires to change fastcopy2.ini
[main]
default_copy_mode="5"

Wow yes! You lead me to the correct method. You said use \*\ for the Exclude, but it did the exact opposite of what I wanted. So I put \*\ for the Include, and it did exactly what I wanted!! Thank you so much!

And I have one last question please:

How can I have FastCopy automatically check the Filter for me, and to put
Include: \*\

whenever I open the program?

Sorry, my answer was not correct.

My correct answer is exclude filter to \*
This filter means "exclude all source directed files".

By the way, include filter to \*\ means "include all source directed dirs".
But this filter has the additional effect that you want :-)

>How can I have FastCopy automatically check the Filter for me, and to put
Include: \*\

It requires to specify command line option (/exclude="" or etc. You can confirm fastcopy help)
You can modify fastcopy shortcut property.

Yea, you're correct in your last post.
Exclude must be \*

I tried it out and it worked.

So there are two methods
1) Include:   \*\       or
2) Exclude:  \*

Yet that command line method seems too complicated. Do you think you can maybe have a "save last settings" option that you can use when you release the next version? So if you have this checked, then when you open the program again, all the previous settings (Filter checked) will open by default.

=)
