hi

i did use it with /cmd=diff for some time and it did run fine
i did change to /cmd=sync and since then it always does copy all the files. even years old unchanged ones.
and it does so now even when i use /cmd=diff again

is there a fix for that behaviour ?

my command Line is

call "C:\Program Files\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe" /no_confirm_del /no_confirm_stop /log /filelog=%templog% /force_close /cmd=sync "%Quelle%" /to="%Ziel%"

decision policy of /diff(date/size) and /sync(date/size) is the same.

Please try v3.00 b1.
 1. open v3.00 b1 (and fastcopy2.ini will be created)
 2. close fastcopy window
 3. Add [main] debug_flags="1" in fastcopy2.ini
 4. open v3.00 b1
 5. choice sync mode and select target source and destDir
 6. push listing button.
 7. Please tell me the target file of  "[DBG](compare)..." lines.

Sorry to take so long to get back on that.

the problem is still there in version 3.

I did also do a recheck using robocopy instead of fastcopy and there i do have no problem with files being copyed that are old but robocopy is very slow compared to fastcopy

Thank you for your report.

I think this environment is very strange.
src/dest file's modified timestamp are not same.
src/dest file's creation timestamp are same.

What is your destination filesystem?
I recommend you to correct your filesystem behavior.
(I don't know why modified date is not saved in your environment)

But the soluion that is not recommended exists.
This change will compare date by creation timestamp (not modified timestamp).
[main] default_copy_flags="32768"

i should have seen that myself. sorry ...

The reason the modified Timestamps dont match is simple.

i copy files last modified years ago ( thats the timestamp on the SOURCE ) with fastcopy to a different server for backup reasons
the files on the destination server then have the timestamp as modified from when i did copy it and not the original last modified date.

the Source is a windows 2008 server using NTFS
the Destination is a Windows 2003 server also using NTFS

What option do i need to use to make fastcopy keep the old modified date on the copy ?

also i did try Windows Explorer and Robocopy again and both write the correct (old) modified date on the Destination and not the date then the copy job did run.
perhaps that helps you finding out why fastcopy does write a bad modified date in my case
