Below is an excerpt from the Status Report of July 2020 of the Revision-Music Committee of the Sacred Harp Publishing Company. Songwriters should take notice.

"...Our original plan was to complete the revision in late 2021. However, our progress is impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, so we are now extending that schedule by about two years. Song contributors are now requested to submit music by April 30, 2022. We hope to have an open singing session to record finalist songs for further evaluation, as was done for the 1991 revision, in the last half of 2022. We also plan to hold a celebration singing to introduce the new revision when it becomes available...."

Robert, do you plan and have you already submitted WILEY? I know it's in the Cooper book, but I think it would be a great addition to this 2023(?) revision. It deserves to be more widely sung.

Cheers, and stay safe.

Hi, Wade,

No, it never crossed my mind to submit WILEY, since it is already in the Cooper Book. However, not that you mention it, it would be nice to be able to sing it regardless of which book we were using. Since I did not think of it, though, I would not consider submitting it now -- I have already submitted several songs and would not be comfortable submitting more.

I appreciate that you think it should be more widely sung. I have been surprised how well it has been received. The compilers of The Good Old Songs, Second Volume, asked to use it, to which I agreed. That new book is now available.

Quoting from the Sacred Harp Publishing Company website, here are the submission details:

"You can submit songs or other input by email to: revi...@sacredharp.com or by mail to Revision-Music Committee, P.O. Box 4243, Huntsville, AL 35815."

My understanding is that song submissions will be anonymized before being distributed to the revision committee for review.
