Many of you are likely familiar with the composer and singer Neely Bruce, who was also a member of this list.

I’m currently researching "revival-era" four-shape tunebooks and am trying to determine whether several of Bruce’s works were ever printed and distributed as bound materials—either as small tunebooks, tunebooklets, or in a more ephemeral form.

The following titles are of interest:

  • Measure and Resultant Winds (2002)

  • An Anthem from the Prophet Jeremiah (2001)

  • Four New Shaped Note Settings (2001)

  • Shaker Shapes (1992–?)

  • Hamm Harmony: A volume of psalm tunes, fuguing tunes, and anthems in the style of The Sacred Harp, dedicated to Charles Hamm (year unknown)

If anyone can confirm whether any of these were formally printed and distributed (even just as handouts at a singing—and especially if you can share photos or bibliographic details—I would be very grateful. I’m generally seeking information such as:

Year of Original Publication; Title; Subtitle; Edition; Compiler/Editor; Publisher; Place of Publication; Number of Pages; Binding Type

Many thanks in advance for any insights you can share.

Best,
Kevin Isaac

I got the details for these items at: https://www.neelybrucemusic.com/catalogue2005.pdf
