In an earlier posting about Timothy Dwight's "Columbia," and the tune STAR OF COLUMBIA by Matilda T. Durham (Southern Harmony p. 260, Sacred Harp pre-Denson 198 and Missouri Harmony) I mentioned that Dan Brittain set this lively tune for band where it was played at Bicentennial observances in Heidelberg, Germany, where Dan was serving as a military bandmaster. He revised it in 2010 and sent me a copy of score and parts. It occurred to me that one or more of our Sacred Harp band directors (I could name quite a few) might be interested.
I have located the music, and would like to make it available if possible. It is in a ZIP file, somewhat over three megabytes, perhaps too big for an email attachment, though I could try. Alternatives would be to use Dropbox or Google Docs, though I'm not familiar with these, or I might get away with placing it on my web site temporarily. The work is copyright 1976 and 2010, so one should contact Dan's heirs (wife and/or children). Perhaps someone who knows them can post contact information.
If you are interested, please email me (mu...@olemiss.edu) and I'll see about getting it to you.
