Dear all,
Hello. I believe I have found a variant of PLEASANT HILL under the name SALUM, transcribed in the blank pages of a Wyeth Repository by a guy named David Allebach, possibly from Kentucky. I've tried looking around for a variant of PLEASANT HILL possibly called SALEM on HTI, but to no avail. This also seems to include GREENFIELDS from Metcalf's Kentucky Harmonist with a new treble, dating this to around 1818-1820, but possibly before the publication of the Davisson book. This may shed some light on PLEASANT HILL having an older origin through a folk tradition.
Sincerely,
A. J. Higgins
