Greetings, all!

I'm a music major from Portland, got into Sacred Harp Singing earlier this year, and have had a ton of fun listening through the variety of recordings n streaming sites. One such one was a pair of recordings made by the Wiregrass Sacred Harp Singers in Southeastern Alabama, many of whom came from African-American denominations and sang from both the B.F. White Sacred Harp and the Colored Sacred Harp. The last track on their "Desire for Piety" disc stuck out to me: "Give Me Just A Little More Time." This one is really fun to listen to, but it wasn't from any of the Sacred Harp hymnbooks. It was a favorite hymn of Dewey Williams (of blessed memory) who led the Wiregrass Singers for many years, and I discovered, thanks to some digging, it was written by Alfred E. Brumley for the Stamps-Baxter Music Publishing Company in 1958, and appears in their hymn book "Silver Gleams." I was curious if anyone had the sheet music for it and would be willing to send it my way? I'm attempting to transcribe it on Musescore in the Sacred Harp style, but the alto and sopranos parts are hard to make out in most recordings I've found. Any information is helpful!

P.S. this is NOT the same song as a similarly named popular tune by the group Chairmen of the Board, and its prevalence in search results is another reason I'm having difficulty locating it.

Copyright:
It might be, but it also might not be. If a 1958 copyright wasn't renewed properly it would have become public domain in 1986, I believe.

My understanding is that if anything was under copyright in 1976, it would
have been automatically converted to the modern terms. Not a lawyer
though - just someone always on the lookout for good public-domain hymns.

The copyright registration on “Silver Gleams” (the compilation) was renewed in 1986. You should assume that “Lord, Give Me Just a Little More Time” (its full title in the book) is still under copyright protection for decades to come.

The good news: No sheet music will really provide a guide to how Dewey, his family and others in their congregation have sung the song. I have several recordings of Dewey leading it, and sang it with his daughters on several occasions in Alabama, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it the same way twice. I’d rely on your ear and your heart more than the sheet music.

I believe Steve is correct, based on what I learned in the Copyright workshop I completed through the Library of Congress.

Jim Pfau, I agree. Please see https://imslp.org/wiki/United_States_Copyright_Law (U. S. Copyright), and https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/ChoralWiki:About_Copyright for a more general description.
