Please forgive my previous message. Barry, I did not examine the CPDL link in your earlier posting, which has most of what I posted, though much richer. I'm not sure that the version in the undated posthumous Psalm-Singer's Amusement reflects a revision by Billings, but that collection is also notable as the source of the anonymous EDGEFIELD in the Sacred Harp 82b. I'll be sure to lead HATFIELD at our next White book singing in August. Thanks for your thorough work.

Of course! Thanks for the nice compliment. I agree, Solomon Howe's 1804 Psalm-Singer's Amusement is confusing to all. I transcribed Shumway's 1793 version of HATFIELD, and I like it - more like I would expect Billings to sound. I haven't sung it yet though. I put it on the CPDL site.
