Welcome Buddy...sure.. we'll see you in Makassar..

Yusran |
I just came back to Dhaka last mid-night. Thank you very much for the
reunion in Pantai Gapura and your friendship. With this memory I will work
hard for the rest of my stay here and hope to see you very soon. Thank you
for the photo, Yus. I am also attaching some pictures. Anna, thanks for
coming yesterday morning with your lovely husband!
Dear friends in all over the world,
This is Yasu. Another name is Gassing. I have came back to Makassar after
five years and met our old friends in our memorial restaurant.
Armin, Anna, Nyoman, Yus, Putri and I had a reunion party at Pantai Gapura
as mentioned in this mailing list. My family and Yusran's son also joined
us. Pantai Gapura has not changed and the boat shaped restaurant are still
there. Putri has just come back from Australia last week and we could meet
her very fortunately. My dream comes true which is to drink beer with old
friends in Makasar. Everyone has not changed except Armin's stomach.
Armin is now leading NGO and a coordinator of our FWP with Ady which will
start very soon. Anna is a government officer now and second baby is coming
in five months. Nyoman will get married next month and have a wedding party
in October. Yus speaks Japanese! Putri enjoyed studying in Australia, with
Shio? I have heard that Ary is still in USA and Febi is a lawyer in Jakarat.
Matsui-san watched Febi in TV speaking some human right issues.
Matsui san is now working as a JICA expert in Makassar. His family has just
arrived to Makassar and we met them as well. I visited Matsui san's house
during this visit. His house is huge, like a palace. Many NGOs are offered
to use the space in Matsui-san's house for their activities and our friends
in Makassar are key members of the NGO group. I am so suprised Armin is
staying at Matsui-san's house!
The reason I visited Makasar is to show Makassar to my family. I may be able
to get job in a remote island near Makassar. If so, I am planning to bring
my family to Makassar. My family liked Makassar very much thanks to my old
friends.
People in Makassar are very nice. According to Putri Makassar has changed
because it is more crowded with many new shopping mall, many motorbikes and
so on compared with two years ago. But for me it has not changed. Our old
friends are still here. Minasan, why dont you come here to see the change in
Makassar
and have another reunion with us.
Big cheers,
Yasu Nagaoka
Sorry, photos are a bit heavy...
It is my pleasure to inform to all of you that...............
I passed the interview of the post of JICA project in Indonesia!!!!!!!
Thank you, thank you, all of you. I am really glad to see my friends in
Makassar again! and work near the memoriable place where our FWP took place,
and if be able to contribute something to the people in Indonesia who
supported our FWP.
I am planning to leave for Makassar at the end of November with my family.
My family will stay in Makassar and I will live in Ambon island where it
takes one hour by air from Makassar. According to Sugihara-san, Ambon was
always candidate site of FWP because of its beauty and uniqueness. However
it
was not happening because of security reason. There was conflict between
muslim and christian ten years back. Now security is getting better and I
would like to welcome anyone to come to Ambon island. Please utilise this
oppotunity.
In Ambon, I will work for the project which strengthen the local education
administration for the improvement of secondary school management. I am
really interested in this project which is focusing the change at the school
level not at central level.
Armin, Anna, Nyoman, Yus, Putri and Matsui-san, See you very soon.
Yukio, Miwa and friends in Japan, I can collect gifts to the friends in
Indonesia.
Cheers,
Yasu

I believed that you would do it. Above all Makassar and Indonesia have
the power to attract people. I wish you and your family a great time
in Makassar and Ambon. Let us know about your work and life in more
details once you settle down.
Hopefully I will have a chance to visit you in Ambon. Pisang Ambon is
my favorite, and I must see them with my eyes how they grow!
PS The 'small' rainy season started in Dar es Salaam all of sudden
this morning. The weather reminds me of Indonesia.

I am stuck now in the crowded of Jakarta until April. I never like Jakarta but I have to stay here as part of the scholarship requirements which I received. So, anybody who happens to be in Jakarta from now until April, maybe we can meet somewhere and have small reunion. Once more, congrats for your new job and please send my best regards to your beautiful wife and wonderful kids... Have a great day |

Wow, Yasu-san, congratulations!
I am so happy that you are getting project that you are very interested in
and to be at the place that is very special for all of us. I wish all the
best for you and your family.
I am still in USA working at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (Baltimore is
growing in me. Anyone planning a visit to the East coast?) but I am going to
Zambia next week for two weeks to train people in the field station for lab
work. Sugihara-san, I am excited to visit your "neighborhood" although I
will be in Southern province, Choma district, so it is not so close to
you...
For everyone, I wish you all the best and hope to see you soon! Miss you.

Hallo too,
Here, it's always rain in Makassar.
Rainy season is coming and remind me when we all, at second day of our FWP several days ago, visited the shop across our hotels to buy raincoats.
All of friends, do you remember that?
Sugihara san, enjoying hot pisang goreng covered with palm sugar is very warm at this situtation. mmmm, and a cup tea......while discuss anything around our environment.
I'll buy pisang goreng and enjoy how I miss you all, wherever you are....
(until now, I wonder, how FASID FWP truly bring an everlasting friendship like I have now with you all.)
