Hi, Minasan,

We had a reunion in Tokyo on Tuesday. We had a special time indeed even after eight years. Yukio, Shiori, Tamaki, Akiko, Miwa and I joined Izakaya party at Yurakucho. We had sashimi and Japanese Sake and Sapporo beer, and chat a lot on each of our updates. Hope other participants to share some pictures or each of comments to explain the atmospher. I want to share my finding from the reunion with you.

We enjoyed a lot because I could share with my special friends on my experience which I did my best for last eight years, also I could listen to the experience which they did their best after we met. So I realized that I really need to do my best for my task in front of me in order to enjoy our special time with my special friends some time later.

By the way, I have heard Shio is now already in Tokyo. Shio, we need to have an another reunio!!

Wish your merry christmas and a happy new year!

Best, Yasu
(supposed to go to Ethiopia from February 2012)

Dear all

Yasu-san, thank you for your email.
I really wanted to attend the reunion but I couldn't because of my business trip.

I'll work for the World Bank from April in Washington, D.C.
Shio, let's have a reunion by the middle of March in Tokyo.

I miss you all and keep in touch.

Best,
Risa

I just checked my old email account which was happened to be added to the FASID mailing list and found all these emails. Not sure if this mail would be successfully sent but I am giving it a go. Anyway, apologies for my unintentional but long silence.

I regret that I had to miss the reunion dinner the other night as I had a prior family commitment but hope to be able to join next time around.

Dear Yasu-san and All,

This is Meg from Tokyo.
Thank you for your cheerful mails.
I am very happy to hear from you all.
I would like to see all of you again if possible.

Now I am working in Earthquake Research Institute, Tokyo
University
however, my basement is tsunami disaster areas: Tohoku,
Indonesia and West cost USA.
I stay in Tokyo less than half a year.
To tell the truth, I spend very stressful days for
Tohoku's miserable situation.
I am very disappointed with my boss, scientists(especially
seismologists), their word "SOUTEIGAI" and attitudes.

Hope everything will be going well with you and your
family in a new year!

Meg

PS. Tamaki, Thank you very much for your kind hospitality
for my young friend in your institute.

Dear all,

It was wonderful to see Yasu-san, Miwa, Shiori, Yukio, Akiko and Sugihara-san. Unfortunately I am back in US now, but I wish you a wonderful time for the next reunion in Tokyo!

Risa - Let's get together when you come to Washington DC. I live in Baltimore, which is just one hour by train. You may be in DC for Sakura festival!

Everyone - if you are going to be in the US East Coast, please do let me know (tamaki.k...@gmail.com or tkob...@jhsph.edu). Meg-san, US East Coast was pretty badly shaken by the earthquake last August. People were not used to earthquake and there were so much chaos. Meg-san, you may have a chance to come to East Coast for your research, too!

I will be back in Japan again briefly in May for my sister's wedding (Her wedding is on 19th). It would be nice to see some of you again then.

I wish you all wonderful 2012.

Much of love,

Tamaki
