Subject: [Wilocalfoodnetwork] Music Contest inspired by Local Food

At this years Local food summit I pledged to help organize a music element  for the Wisconsin Food System Network. The hard work required of Farmers vendors and all who toil I to bring us food needs the inspiration of music, especially home made music to feed their souls. Country and Folk music have their roots literally in the making of the things we need.

I will need several, enthusiastic helpers who want to create this cultural complement for our growing local food system work. If you can help email grca...@wisc.edu and I will put together a discussion soon

Meanwhile here are some ideas

My initial idea is encouraging people to identify and create food and farm related songs. These would be celebrated at the next Food Systems Summit and possibly regional meetings around the state.

I have in mind music:

That energizes people working to create strong local food systems
That is singable and or playable by amateurs

That includes new lyrics, new music or the creatve adaptation of an existing song..

That includes music made with or rooted in instruments which don't require Electrical amplification.
