IFM Local Sourcing E-News

Friends and Colleagues,

Chefs Eat Local With Neesvig's

Congrats to Neesvig's for hosting their first local foods dinner! The Windsor-based distributor brought chefs to Blackhawk Country Club (Madison, WI) last week to meet a selection of their local food suppliers and dine on their products. Dane County Executive Parisi came to show his support for the local food businesses and the chefs dedicated to supporting the economy through their local food purchases. Vendors included Uphoff Ham & Bacon (Madison, WI), Grande Cheese (Fond du Lac, WI), Sassy Cow Creamery (Columbus, WI), Roth Kase (Monroe, WI), and more!

You can buy local from Neesvig's by calling Callie Pederson at (608) 846-1160 ext. 234.

Opportunity to Comment on Priorities for Farm Bill

U.S. Congressman Reid Ribble and U.S. Congressman Tom Petri will be co-hosting an Ag Policy Conference on February 20th in Kimberly, WI (near Appleton) from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Part of the purpose of the meeting is for them to hear from Wisconsinites about their agriculture and Farm Bill priorities. If you would like to attend and share how you feel Wisconsin farmers would best be supported, RSVP to Betsy....@mail.house.gov or call 920-380-0061.

Buy Local All Year Long!

·         Salad greens grown in Steven's Point available from R.E. Golden Produce (Madison, WI). Call Tom Woodford at (608) 395-7025 to order.

·         Ground beef, sausage, pork, and more available from Black Earth Meats (Black Earth, WI). Call Bartlett Durand at (608) 767-3940 to order.

·         Buy a Gouda or Cheddar in food service size from Saxon Homestead Creamery (Cleveland, WI). Their pasture based dairy has a real story to tell - they are fifth generation farmers! Call Jerry Heimerl at (920) 693-8500 to order.

Have local Wisconsin product? Call (608) 224-3710 to join IFM and be in a future E-news.

Sincerely,

I wonder if those salad greens in Stevens Point are from Community
Industries' operation.

Chris, I called R.E. Golden Produce and spoke with Tom. Turns out he gets
greens from Heidi Heath in Coloma...You have to forgive them. From their
perspective Coloma is easily confused geographically with Stevens Point.
Heath Farms is big. Mark Hayes buys lots of greens from them.
