Farm Hack meeting 2.18.13

Attendees: Robin Lee, Krik Marschel, Stefan Meyer, Lindsay Rebhan, Kayla Schanus

Event Food - Bryant Lake Bowl has generously agreed to provide sandwiches to all attendees who registered! (Meat or veg added to RSVP page.) We need some sweet treats - Birchwood? Lindsay talking with MN Nice Ride to see if we can use their sorbet bike + Seward donate ingredients. Maybe Foxy Falafel smoothie bike too? (Lindsay)

Napkins, Compostables - Confirm what is already available in Freewheel Bike Center (Kristy). Possibility of getting some materials from Dinner on the Farm Monica, Eureka?, existing facilities? Look into composting options (Stefan).

Discussion of the Event Agenda: (rough times - need to solidify)

10AM  Social, welcome, coffee, walk around visuals on walls, check out bike demos

10:30  Farm Hack Intro or Keynote   ***Need projector, computer, internet

11:30  Farming Needs --> Group led discussion: what are we building for, what are we designing for, challenges, economically viable and efficient ag systems, post harvest processing ***Butcher block paper and markers  Maybe break into groups here and then come back with highlight of discussion and/or write on wall paper. 

12:30  Lunch  - Next steps spiel - July event promo

1-3pm Break Out Sessions - Design Charrettes --->how do we want to organize this?

• Gather around a topic - Water, compost, processing, cultivating, harvest, open hack
• Bike Mechanic / Farmer
• Builder
• Adapting Bikes / Honey Extractor - Bike Mechanic from Freewheel or somewhere else who has adapted a bike for .
• Pumping 101 --> pump mechanic. midwest hydroponic store resource? Eco Gardens? Waterworks?
• Electrical 101 --> The Hack Factory

Do we want facilitators, or make sure someone who knows how charrettes work in each group?
