Dear Members,
Happy New Year!!!
I hope you are all well and fit to take on the New Year’s engagements.
We at the coordinating unit have resumed work, though much of it is at reporting level. Our 1st QTR work plan is ready and waiting for communication from Denmark on when the funds shall be available.
I bring you a quick update on the above. Due to various engagements on the above subject, MAAIF has taken a step to come up with a policy on the same. As a key stakeholder in Agriculture, the platform was invited to participate in the consultation meeting that took place on Monday, 22nd at Golf Course Hotel-Kampala. During the meeting, CSOs realized that the time given for consultation was too short and that the sample size of respondents was also small. It was on that not that we lobbied for more time to consult our constituencies. In response, time was not added but we were given an opening to consult the different farmers/groups we work with and deliver a feedback to the consultant as soon as possible.
The reason for this mail is there for to send you the data collection tool made by the consultants working on the policy so that you can speak out on what kind of policy you would like to see. Please fill it out and send back as soon as possible so that your views are not left out. The document is in PDF, you can either print it out and fill a hard copy. As CSOs we also had a strategizing meeting today and came up with an action plan; here also attached. Please read through and see what you can do in your organization to support the process. Please do not hesitate to link up with us at the national level for any technical assistance. if possible, you could share the document with the staff in your organizations and any other partners you work with, we need as many response as possible.
NB: Those of you who are on watsapp, please send me your watsapp number, so that you are added into our platform group for eassy communication.
