BUSOGA REGION SEASONAL FORECAST  MARCH, APRIL AND MAY 2017 UGANDA.
Busoga region is expected to start receiving rainfall in late February to  Early March and the peak rainfall is expected mid-Apirl to early May. Rain is expected to end late May .The region is expected to receive good rainfall for Agriculture. Communities are advised to start buying inputs, prepare land,timely planting ,plant long maturing crops. Plant trees and coffee. Avoid planting crops in flood and landside prone zones, carryout water harvesting, crop rotation,mulching, dig trenches and terraces. Use fertilizers, proper spacing of crops ,weeding. Timely harvesting of maize to minimize aflatoxin accumulation in maize and use improved post harvest handling practices. eg super bags,plant fodders, plant disease resistant varieties like NABE 15-23,longe 10H-11H,7H). SEASONAL FORECAST FOR CENTRAL UGANDA MARCH TO MAY 2017.                                     The central region is expected to start receiving rainfall between late February to early March and rainfall is expected to intensify with the peak in mid April and stop around early to mid-June 2017.Western lake Victoria basin districts like Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka rain is expected to be accompanied by strong and destructive winds and hailstorms. seasonal rains in mukono, kayunga district will be interrupted by occasional dry spell. Communities are advised to buy agriculturl inputs, prepare gardens,carryout mulching, plant trees,plant long maturing crops and improved varieties like,avoid planting crops in flood prone zones, timely planting maize. Use super bags to improve post harvest handling. The western region is expected to start receiving rainfall in late February, the peak of rains around mid April and rainfall expected to stop in late May to early June in South western districts of kisoro, Kabale, Mbarara, kasese. Western central districts like Ntoroko, kabarole, kyenjojo, Homia, kibaale. Rainfall is expected to start in mid to late March and peak in mid to late April and seasonal rains will stop around early to mid June. Communities are advised to buy agricultural input, early land preparation, plant trees, plant long maturing crops, plant livestock fodders, contruct terraces and trenches, avoid planting crops in flood and landside prone zones, guard aganist tick-borne diseases and worms, use improved post harvest practices eg super bags. NORTHERN UGANDA SEASONAL FORECAST MARCH,APRIL AND MAY 2017.                                                  The North Central districts of Gulu,APAC,Oyam Rainfall is expected to start in late March to early April and rain is expected to stop mid June 2017.While North eastern districts of Lira,kitgum, pader rains are expected to start in early to mid April and expected to stop around mid- June. And North western districts Moyo,Aura,nebbi,Yumbe rain is expected to start between late March to early April and peak rainfall expected in late April and expected to stop in mid June -2017. Communities are advised buy agricultural input, use food and water sparingly,water source protection,timely planting of improved varieties, carryout rain water harvesting, irrigation of crops, intercropping.
