Dear friend of Goonj,    Here are some pictures of flood hit people in Assam and Bihar, by our Field teams. In the last few days major flooding has affected over 10 million people, forcing thousands to leave their homes, basic belongings from livestock, small huts to crops have been lost, apart from life loss of over 150 people.   Our experience in disasters shows that the moment water goes down, the flood hit people and their needs mostly move out of the news cycle. We have also seen how disasters wipe out generations of work and force people into large scale migration and vicious cycles of debts.     Time is of essence. We must respond urgently before the situation worsens. We are there.. and need you too..   Here is how You and Your Organization can join the campaign: As an Individual You Can;  1. Make a material contribution- Any quantity of material contribution is welcome. Just make sure it is in a usable condition. Please reach it to the nearest Goonj office. If you don’t have a Goonj office in your city, send it to the nearest office by courier and inform us about it on ma...@goonj.org     2.Make a Monetary Contribution- Drop a Cheque/demand draft in the name of GOONJ in any HDFC branch or send to GOONJ, J-93, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi-110076 with your full name, address, email-id and tel no. for receipt purpose. OR contribute through a direct bank transfer - details here.   As an Organisation You Can;   1. Material Contribution and collect in bulk- Please send it to nearest Goonj office personally or by courier. You can refer the requirements in the above poster. Do motivate your teams and organization to initiate collection drives in your offices pan-India. Collected material can be sent to our nearest Goonj's offices.   2. Monetary Contribution and initiate Organizational Payroll Giving for relief and rehab work- Monetary Contributions are critical for our logistics, essential purchases and reaching relief supplies to the last mile.
