Understanding the Farm Laws & the Farmers’ Struggle

Since the introduction of the three Farm Bills by the Union Government, claimed to benefit farmers, farmers’ groups across India have risen up in protest! Lakhs of farmers and their supporters are converging on roads around Delhi and bandhs and rallies are being organized in other parts of the country. During this period, the Karnataka government passed the Karnataka Land Reforms Act (KLRA), the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020 and amended the state Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act by ordinance.

As concerned citizens, it's important for us to understand these acts and their impact on agriculture, livelihoods, food security, environment and on our own lives. To know more about these and to see how you can contribute to the campaign, join us for an informative workshop by researchers, activists and practitioners. The workshop is being organized by Naavu Bharateeyaru, a coalition of individuals and organizations engaged in protecting and promoting citizen rights and constitutional values.

This workshop will be in English. A workshop in Kannada will be announced shortly.
