Just kinda curious as to how many gigs some of you use up on your data plans while out on the road. Do any truckstops have wifi available? Ive got an iphone and ipad right now that i would be taking with me. I stream alot of movies via netflix which i fall asleep to so I'm assuming id be using up alot of gb's without wifi, not to mention needing a hotspot for my ipad.

I have a 30gb plan and pay 100$ for it + my monthly line charges. I called their customer service and explained that i was along haul driver and wanted to Skype with my wife and kids, they hooked me up. Sometimes they do good things. One of the reasons I'm willing to spend extra on their service.

I can eat 30 in two weeks so watching what you do is abig thing. You can set Netflix to stream at a lower quality which uses approx .03gb of data per hour. I try and limit myself tolike 2-3 episodes of family guy, Simpson's or whatever a night. Works pretty good for me.

Same here. I have the 30 gig plan and often get close to going over. Verizon has the best coverage for my normal areas. (East of the Mississippi, Ok and TX). I`m not sure yet how it will be out West. I watch a lot of Netflix and Hulu.

There are some offline options as well. Amazon Prime with an Amazon FireHD tablet(or phone) allows you to download Prime videos to your device. When it comes to music I have to have variety. I found Slacker radio offers offline listening of up to 27 channels for $5 a month.

All the major truck stops have Wi-Fi available for a price. It's like $5 for 24 hours but you can buy monthly or yearly plans. But keep in mind that 1 plan is only good at Pilot/Flying J another is for T/A/Petro and another for Love's. But the Wi-Fi is slow and the more drivers on it, the slower it gets. My Netflix buffers all the time on those Wi-Fi but I have a pretty slow laptop.
