Greetings All,
We have implemented FarCry 4.0 and our users need some very basic
documentation.

The documentation at http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCUSER40/Home
is good and I realize
each implementation is unique to its own environment, but I need
something much more basic for my users here.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look,
or has someone created their own that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks!
Angela

Angela,

In those cases I usually just create custom documentation for my clients with examples to help walk them through their custom application that I've made for them. I sometimes make video tutorials (since they are the fastest to make and often easiest to digest), however PDFs with screenshots seem to be the most preferred option.

Regards,

Hey Jeff,

These videos and PDFs you've made, I don't suppose it would be possible for
you to put them online so that we can have a look? I've been making some
video tutorials of my own for clients, as well as the first stages of a User
Manual document. I understand that some of this will be difficult to show
other people due to clients/contracts/etc, but if you've got some generic
stuff we could just have a look at, that would be great. When I've got some
more generic videos of my own done, I was going to see about putting them
online somewhere as well.

Cheers,
Phil

Also Jeff, how have you been making these videos? I'm using Jing to capture
the action (no voice though) and then converting it to AVI so that I can use
a subtitling tool to add subtitled descriptions of what's going on. I went
with the "no-voice" approach as a) my voice sounds horrible when recorded (a
problem with about 99% of people I would think!) and b) I can often ramble
on a bit too long, and the subtitled approached means I can stick to the
point more, thus making the videos smaller and hopefully easier to digest by
the viewer.

Jeff,
Thanks for the advice, and we may consider creating videos as a resource
to review after our initial training sessions.

Something that I think would help alleviate our user's general confusion would
be to change the date format in the Content listings (Events, News).
Can you tell me where and what files to customize to change the date format from ddmmyyyy to mmddyyyy, please.
We are currently 4.09 and will be upgrading to 5 later this year.

Thanks!
Angela
