Folks,

Am going to start running a short weekly Hangout on Tuesday mornings at 9am (Sydney time).

First hangout will be a walkthrough of the Chelsea sample app and FarCry 7.0 wonderment.

Join up to the Google+ Community for notifications -- will try and remember to post reminders to this list too:

Will send through a comprehensive list of topics we're looking to cover shortly.  If you have any ideas at this stage throw them into the ring :)

All the best,

GB

Just watched the recording of the first hangout, looking forward to future hangouts.

I must remind myself that Tuesday morning Aus-time is Monday evening UK-Time so i do not miss the live event in future.

Thought I would add to Geoff's last comments - I am actively working on a Slatwall integration within FarCry for a couple of clients. When these have gone live I will be working on an open source version of the integration plugin. I have been developing this against FarCry V7, but it should be fairly easy to get it working in V6 sites as well.

Chris.

Looks like the first Hang Out went well -- video is up online for those that missed it:

(definitely need to add some sort of backchannel as Google Air Hangouts don't give you many options for communicating with viewers)

Last FarCry Breakfast we brainstormed a few ideas for 30min Hangouts.  If you have a topic let me know, if you like the look of a topic mentioned +1 and let me know :)  We'll do our best to prioritise popular topics.
  • Bulk upload; attaching bulk upload options to your formtools and content types
  • Skeleton export; installer, database migration, and more
  • CDN set up; working with AWS S3, maybe general discussion on supporting other CDNs
  • CloudBess installation and development
  • Webtop dashboard; customising the dashboard, building your own dashboard pods
  • Task queue; asynchronous processing of long running requests eg. bulk uploads, stats imports
  • Post-processing webskins; writing your own embeds for youtube, vimeo, poll daddy, etc
  • Dev tools; webskin tracer, profiler, refobjects repair, build tree and more
  • File mount ingestion; using the task queue to process files appearing in a directory (FTP, Dropbox, etc)
  • Working with Scheduled tasks (dmCron)
  • Friendly URLs; rewrites, turn on, convention vs configuration, and more
What else?

not listed - updating code to implement new best practices

+2
Post-processing webskins; writing your own embeds for youtube, vimeo, poll daddy, etc

File mount ingestion; using the task queue to process files appearing in a directory (FTP, Dropbox, etc)

CDN set up; working with AWS S3, maybe general discussion on supporting other CDNs
(inc setting up local - I am assuming this would make it easier to migrate to 3rd party, and also dev/test environments)

+1
Webtop dashboard; customising the dashboard, building your own dashboard pods
(does this include theme/skinning?)

Friendly URLs; rewrites, turn on, convention vs configuration, and more
CloudBess installation and development
(may as well throw in Farcry Express)

Good question -- I have immediately missed the first and possibly now the second of my weekly hangouts.. not a good start ;)

Am swamped at the moment.  I think i'll say no to tomorrow -- and try and announce something in advance for next week.
