Folks,

A beta for FarCry 5.2 for those that might be interested in testing
their solutions in advance. Overall its very stable and running on
several production sites as is. In addition to the release notes, 5.2
contains all the cumulative fixes from the 5.1 maintenance branch.

Issue/feature list available here:
http://bugs.farcrycms.org/browse/FC/fixforversion/10270

The real guts of the update documented here:
http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCDEV50/Event+hooks

You should be able to grab the head from the new p520 branch here:
http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/core/branches/p520

Quick and dirty summary of this predominantly developer focused
release...

Blair has headed up a series of core changes that give us much better
array of event hooks in the framework so we can better manage when
things "change". The driving force behind "event hooks" has been to
allow for much more flexibility when securing and delivering files and
images -- though the hooks can be applied to any content type.

5.2 will make the following things much easier to manage:
- file libraries that contain secure and insecure files
- option to bypass download.cfm and so have public files delivered
via the web server rather than CFCONTENT
- options to more easily secure individual file assets by role
- options to move files on approval; allowing public file libraries
to have secured draft files

We'll also be releasing a FarCry CDN option that leverages these
features. FarCry CDN hooks into Amazon S3, and automatically moves
media assets to S3 to be served. It's likely this will be a
commercial offering only -- more news on this later.

Enjoy!

Geoff,

The p520 branch isn't showing up at the repository (for public) yet.

New branch is available here:
http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/core/branches/p520/

In order to get the installer working there has been an update to the
Mollio skeleton, available here:
http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/farcry_mollio/trunk/

The installer updates were part of efforts to get the installer to run
through Railo's new in-house store thing. Apologies for not letting
folks know earlier -- probably would have removed a lot of the
frustration.. my bad :(

We'll have a ZIP distro out by the end of the week for folks who can't
stand the thought of getting to grips with Subversion :)

Geoff,

can you please explain the difference between Mollio-Versions under:

http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/farcry_mollio/trunk/

AND

http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/projects/mollio/trunk/

I'm unsing FC 5.1.8 with the Mollio-Files from "http://
svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/projects/mollio/trunk/". It seems that
this files are newer than the files from http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/farcry_mollio/trunk/
!?

Which Mollio files do I need to test FC-5.2 Beta correctly ?

Regards

Knut,

farcry_mollio [p300] was used for FarCry 3, and farcry_mollio [trunk]
was used for FarCry 4.0 pre-alpha (before the directory structure was
changed in FarCry 4.0 final). So, if you're on FarCry 4+, you can
ignore the farcry_mollio repositories.

Hi Jeff,

thank you very much for the explanation.

Geoff's posting:

"In order to get the installer working there has been an update to the
Mollio skeleton, available here:
http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/farcry_mollio/trunk/ "

made me a little bit insecure !

Yikes! Good catch.

The difference is *do not* use anything under ./farcry_mollio/trunk/
(its dead and dusted).

The correct repo for the Mollio skeleton is here:
http://svn9.cvsdude.com/modius/farcry/projects/mollio/trunk/

Sorry about that.
