Folks,

Blair has polished up the new and shiny FarCry i18n engine. It's
pretty impressive. You can now translate for core, plugins and even
your own project customisations.

We've put together a little engine for translating labels against
Google translator service and so have sample resource bundles for all
kinds of languages, including tricky character sets like Chinese and
Arabic. Obviously this is just for testing -- Google's not the best
thing to rely on for a faithful, in context, translation!

Are there any translators out there who'd be happy to give their
feedback, help us crush any bugs and of course get some decent
translations into place?

All the best,

I'll be happy to translate the en_US version again. Just let me know
what tools are needed (any instructions?)

Blair will try and answer questions in this forum as they arise. For
all intents and purposes, you just need to update the resource bundle
with a tool like rbmanager:

We're looking at an online solution so that folks can collaborate on
translations.. but that's a little way down the track i suspect.

This is an Eclipse plugin that looks promising:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipse-rbe/

Though I'd warn that we've had problems in the past with non-
conforming bundle editors that effectively nuke the resource bundle.
RBManager has been the only really reliable client for this sort of
work we've found:

We'd love to hear from anyone with experience in this area.

I have updated the I18n section of the wiki with information for translators and developers. Please let me know if anything needs more explanation.

Hi folks,

I've started to do the translation with the RBManager for the "German
- Version (de_DE)" of FC 5.1 !

Although I set "<cfset THIS.locales = "de_DE" />" in the file "/
project/www/farcryConstructor.cfm", the german translations in the "/
farcry/core/packages/resources/admin_de_DE.properties" file does not
work.

The translations will just be displayed, if I rename the file
"admin_de_DE.properties" to "admin.properties" !

Any idea why ???

It may be that the locale is bound to the profile. I think the locale
list at the application level is supposed to restrict the available
locales for the application, not which locale is utilised. Try
editing your profile and selecting German.

Hope that helps,

Hi Geoff,

sorry, the locales in the profile is already set to "German", but it
has no effect !

I also set the locales to "de_DE" under "Admin" -> "Edit config" ->
"General Config" -> "Deprecated Properties" -> "Locale", but it also
has no effekt.

Only renaming my new "admin_de_DE.properties" file to ->
"admin.properties" seems to be a workaround.

Hmm.. well that is definitely a problem :) Hopefully we can sort that
out for you on Monday.

Hi Geoff,

do you have anything new concerning my problem ???

Would you also please have a look on BUG FC-1642 ?!
I still have problems with wrong image paths, when I activate FUs.
