We are pleased to share with you that Indian Energy Exchange
(IEX) is India’s premier power exchange and has truly emerged as matured
marketplace for day-ahead power purchase and sale.
· Total participation
has crossed 3800+; Utilities from 29 states, 5 UTs, more than 3400 Open
Access Consumers (industries) and more than 348 generators. In
Karnataka over 130 industries are procuring power through IEX.
· Term Ahead Markets,
with its Intra day, Day-ahead contingency, Daily and Weekly contracts,
gives flexibility to the players to manage their power portfolio from few
hours on same day to two weeks.
· Renewable Energy
Certificates (REC) is also set to create new opportunities for renewable
and co-generation power plants.
It is worth mentioning here that Industries across the country
are saving around 20% - 25% of the power purchase cost by procuring power
through open access at Exchange market. Similar saving potential is
available for the industrial consumers in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh
states.
For a concerted effort to create true market for Indian power sector
and exploring opportunities for all concerned in both the states, IEX
and FTAPCCI are organizing a “Workshop on Open Access in
