No offense to the eaters who ate there, but shouldn't this be counted
like the St. Patty's day showdown? No competition points, but the
quantities count? The event was not on the competition schedule, and
no one was aware of it except the local eaters. I thought the ruling
was that if the contest was not open to everyone, no points would be
awarded. And yes, I *know* it WAS open to anyone walking by, but no
one else knew about it.

Thoughts, anyone?

Hmmm, interesting. I was actually thinking back on it recently and
was wondering the opposite: if we shouldn't go ahead and give points
for St. Patty's. Originally I didn't because the IFOCE was still
being good about awarding points regularly, but we've kind of hijacked
that since then and done our own thing with points for qualifiers and
such. I wouldn't award points for singular exhibitions still, but
maybe if the exhibition is a showdown between several eaters we should
award points and contest credits. There is another La Constena
jalapeno contest on the 16th, though...shouldn't they be counted the
same? I don't know! I'll defer to the popular opinion.

I'm ok with awarding points for this.  It wasnt Nationally announced but I think because it was more than a one man exhibition, and at least the locals pros were aware of it.  There was actual money awarded at the end, what says 'Contest' more than money? Ask Bubba!

Does Dale get a DQ penalty for being kicked out? Hell Yeah!

I think it would be ok to award points for St Patricks too.  Sure it wasnt open to everybody, but thats the advantage of having a top 10 eater in your stable!

The contest on the 16th was on the schedule....

Ok, so we assign points for this, and the St. Patrick's showdown, and
that circumvents any discussion about points being awarded (yes) for
the upcoming Spike contest. I concur.

I realize that it's not in the MeatSweats interest to allow points for these things, but I'm ok with being fair.  Plus it sets the table for the 3 remaining Spike shows which I hope some of our eaters will do well in!

Uh, yeah, the scoring is 6 of 1 or 1/2 dozen of the other.. But,
Steakbellie what are you smokin'?!? What sticky is icky? But now that
you brought it up, what's up with these fathers of young children that
have to "play fair" to teach them "life lessons"? Puh-leaze! :)
