The Iron men are out.  It's too much of a beta-test for me to pay to play AN, and it's clear that Mike wants to be compensated for his time for it.  So, I'll get the man some much needed money for SON but AN, sorry can't get myself to pay for this one.

Just sent Mike my resignation lastnight too.

I don't know if anyone even realized I was playing, but I stopped sending in turns awhile back. I just couldn't get into it.

What's beta-test about it?  We've only had one big rules change very early on since we started.  The rules are far better defined than in SON, and all the wild and wooly is properly isolated in the roleplaying GM layer and has nothing to do with the rules.  Eh, but your days were most likely numbered in any case, so getting out now is probably for the best, considering how good losers are at whining in Mike's games (what?  I have never ever been a whiny loser ... much, well, not more than two or three times, all right, yes I is one).  I'm betting those Harrenfolk really don't like you.  I've just got to figure out steps 2 or 3 to get to 4. profit!!!

Actually, I just beat the Harrenfolk down hard and it was all over for them but the shouting.  That's why I felt fine about leaving when I'm on top.  Had to reverse the trend of the war before I left.

If the Harrenfolk felt that was the case as well, then I'd recommend not reading the next turn results.  Don't want to depress you on your glorious departure. :)  Well, that's not fair to say, perhaps they became suicidally depressed and told everyone to go to heck.  So, there's a I'd guess roughly 57% chance of it being an unpleasant newsfax for the Iron men.  Who knows what the dice and Mike's humor will do.

They can do whatever they choose to do.  I'd suggest that the Iron Men take up knitting and simply go home.  But, that's me.

Thanks for letting me know.
Several people have dropped off the face of the earth --  they don't reply to e-mails or submit turns so I assume they quit. It's nice to know for sure.

Yeah, I figured I could hold you off for two more turns, maybe three and then it's Berlin 1945 except with space marines.

I've received a total of four turns:
Dirdir, Betrayers, Er'elim and Orion.
Should I keep going with four?
The Betrayers are the only ones who seem to donate and it's hard to get
motivated to process a game turn for the princely sum of $8 US a month
(total), especially since I have more and more NPCs to run as everyone
has dropped out.

How 'bout we call it a four-way tie and concentrate on Struggle?

My problem is that I'm really, really tight on money and the $5/turn that I ought to be giving you should probably go somewhere else. I don't feel comfortable playing for free.

I sent 50 Niv 16th or so via Paypal also, and 40 prior towards the start of AN. That's about 18/mo from me at this point. Granted had I continued I'd not have donated again until mid january, but most definitely donated regularly here and in SoN.

Paypal to your cox address.  Just to note, I only have $25 a month in personal spending (for now, might evaporate as well *sigh*), at that's got to cover everything that is spent on me.  So I've been tending to donate every 2-3 months.  While I love SON and AN, I also like buying music, books, games, candy bars, etc.

My point is, I have America in SON, so no Dirdir hurts but I have good consolation.  If any of the three other players are no longer in SON, then ending Alienation is taking away all their Mike goodness.  If they have a sucky positions in SON, ending Alienation isn't as fun.

As to processing NPCs, results of this turn might eliminate the need for you to process Harrenfolk, and I promise to remove the burden of the Iron men as soon as possible. ^_^

I addressed some off the points he made previously (seriously out not :).  Most certainly he can do whatever he wants with his time considering the size of the revenue stream.

It doesn't seem worthwhile to do a couple more turns for four players who'll undoubtely soon be three than then two and then none. The game isn't growing, it's been shrinking since the start. If I processed the turn there would only be a couple more before it died anyway.

I can't speak for everybody but I started to lose interest the moment units became "free to own" after purchase.  It became obvious that wars would just be prolonged grindfests and there was no reason to get rid of old equipment.  Even if it was doomed in battle.  That started to erode away the flavor of the game.

Then people started to drop, removing any real point or challenge to the game.

So it became an RPG, but w/o the flavor or ongoing story that makes an RPG worth doing.

I reached a point where I could no longer play for free and feel good about it, even though it was obvious the game is in a beta mode.  So given a choice of pay or drop, I dropped.  I was just up front and open about it and that spurred a few others to admit they were gone.

It was a noble effort, loved a LOT of what he was going for here.    But, it's too much of a SONlite in space or something.

Honestly the moment the spreadsheet was dropped, the game was doomed.  Dumbing down never seems to work.

This hits the nail on the head.

Also, when the DM was informed of the broken nature of the game, he acknowledged that he knew about it, shrugged his shoulders and stated he wanted to see how it played out.

Basically what Dave said. That and I hoped AN would depart from the two-knob philosophy of Struggle games; not only did it not, but playing as a hive mind meant I only had ONE knob to turn. It just got repetitive very quickly. Buildbuildbuildbuildbuilddon'tdarestopbuilding.
