Hi friends,

Wow, has this Spring been rough, but finally things are warming up around these parts and I'm able to get out and about. Here are some quick events, announcements, and projects you may or may not dig, find useful, or be happy to know exist in the world:

• I'll be presenting some ideas on May 10 at the Hungry Brain for an informal lecture series called Homeroom. Title: Ladydrawers: The Thrilling World of Female Cartoonists and the Underthings they are Expected to Draw. $5 suggested donation, starts at 9 p.m. My talk is based partially on the Women's Comics Anthology, 2nd Edition, the collaborative zine James Payne and I made with my SAIC students and a few other comics artists which is now online and available for free download. Free—isn't that your favorite price?

• I'll be presenting my collaborative works alongside a few other radical publishing types May 14-17 at the Open Engagement conference in Portland, OR. This entire conference is also free. Your favorite price.

• I'm reading from Cambodian Grrrl on May 18 at Reading Frenzy in Portland, OR. Guess how much this event costs to attend? $0, beer included in cost of admission. AWESOME.

• I finally completed a video based on my funny animal story Some Facts About The Okapi, and you can watch it here. For a ONE ZILLION DOLLARS. Just kidding.

• I've been invited to participate in an unfunded residency program in Leipzig, Germany, with experimental arts group Pilotenkueche, and I have made a ridiculous video to help fundraise: Pilot-Kitchen!. I know: I do a lot of fundraising. My theory is, I also do a lot of things for free. I am asking those who have funded my Cambodia work to not fund this project, but if you want to help out, to forward it to those who might. Your support is deeply appreciated.

• I've begun taking orders for the 2nd edition of the Manifesti of Radical Literature. Missed the first edition? Lost it at your last rally or in the clink? Now's the time to reserve your copy.

• Next week—or sometime soon—I'll be on Worldview with Jerome McDonnell, WBEZ's international public affairs show, talking about my work in Cambodia. Remember a minute ago, when I was like, "Your support is deeply appreciated"? I meant it. That work would not have been possible without you!

Next week I'll be launching a massive Chicago-based project as well, so stay tuned for that exciting news, and have a great May!

heart,
aem
