The book continues where Cambodian Grrrl left off, with a group of charming young women struggling to gain voice and opportunity in a nation traditionally unwelcoming of dreams. In New Girl Law, the group re-envisions a traditional moral code for women. In the process, the future young women leaders of Cambodia grow comfortable looking more closely at their history. The Phnom Penh Post wrote this welcome: "One by one, human ideals – of rights, freedom and of perfect solutions to everyday problems - were mulled over by the students. While the time-old tradition of the Chbap Srey hovered, spectre-like in the background, new ‘laws’ emerged that managed to fit both what the group wanted to have and what they wanted to say to society." The book's available at Barnes & Noble, Quimby's, or Amazon. Also available in various e-formats. (And check out more by cover artist MariNaomi here.)
